Operating Instructions for Pneumatic Engraving Machines

The core components of pneumatic engraving machine are pneumatic system and engraving head. Pneumatic system includes gas source, pneumatic actuator, gas connection pipe and control components, of which, the gas source provides the gas power required by the engraving machine, usually using compressed air, pneumatic actuator is responsible for the conversion of pneumatic energy for mechanical energy, its internal structure is similar to the piston and piston cylinder, through the change of pneumatic pressure to realize the mechanical movement, which is mainly used for controlling the up and down movement of the engraving head, engraving speed and other work. Engraving head is another core component of the pneumatic engraving machine, which consists of tool shank, tool clamping device, spindle, emergency stop switch and other components. The engraving head is mainly used to fix the tool on the toolholder and drive the tool to move through the rotation of the spindle, so as to complete the cutting and engraving of the workpiece. The emergency stop switch is used to stop the rotation of the spindle quickly in case of emergency to ensure the safety of the operator.

Selection of materials

  1. Metallic materials

Aluminum Alloy: Among metal materials, aluminum alloy is the most common material for engraving with pneumatic engraving machines because of its good plasticity.

Copper, iron and zinc: these metals can also be engraved with pneumatic engraving machine, but due to the high hardness, the engraving should pay attention to the selection of tools and the adjustment of machine parameters.

  1. Non-metallic materials

Wood: Wood is rich in grain and color, creating carvings of unique beauty.

Plastic: Plastic is not easily deformed and is suitable for crafts or parts that require fine engraving.

Acrylic: acrylic high transparency, high hardness, can be used to make appliances, advertising signs.

Stone: Marble, granite and other stones are generally high in hardness and can be used as raw materials for the carving of tombstones and stone artwork.

  1. Other materials

Pneumatic engraving machine can also deal with foam materials, composite materials, these materials have their own advantages and disadvantages, you can choose your own according to the need.

Preliminary

Ring Engraving

1. Inspection equipment

Make sure the pneumatic engraver is connected to a stable air source and that the air source is working properly. Check if the power cord is well grounded and not damaged. Check the air source pipeline to make sure the air source is stable and remove any impurities in the air source pipeline.

2. Personal protective measures

Wear goggles to prevent eye injuries from flying debris or chips. Wear protective gloves to prevent hand injuries. Wear coveralls for comfort and protection.

3. Preparation of the working environment

Ensure the workplace is well ventilated to avoid accumulation of dust and harmful gases. Keep the working table flat and stable to prevent shaking during the carving process. Prepare the necessary cleaning tools, such as brushes and cloths, before you start carving so that you can clean up the work area in time after the carving is finished.

Rocedure

  1. Connecting the air source: connect the pneumatic engraver tool with the compressed air equipment, make sure the connection is firm and no air leakage.
  2. Replacing the cutterhead: Remove the old cutterhead, loosen the cutterhead nut with a wrench, and then remove the cutterhead by hand. Install the new cutterhead onto the pen head and hand-screw the cutterhead to ensure it is secure.
  3. Placement of material: Place the material to be engraved on the table surface and use a ball vise to clamp it.

  1. Adjusting Air Pressure: Adjust the air pressure of the compressed air according to the hardness and needs of the engraved material. Generally, harder materials require higher air pressure and vice versa.
  2. Engraving posture: Hold the pneumatic engraving tool, keep your arm and wrist relaxed, and place the engraving pen perpendicular to the working surface. Adjust the depth and angle of the cutter head according to the engraving requirements to ensure engraving accuracy and speed.
  3. Start engraving: Press the start button of the pneumatic engraving tool to start engraving. During the engraving process, maintain a stable posture and strength, avoid excessive force or shaking.
  4. Monitor the engraving process: During the engraving process, continuously observe the engraving effect, stop the machine in time if there is any problem and adjust the parameters such as air pressure and depth of the cutter head.
  5. FINISH & CHECK: When engraving is complete, turn off the power switch. Carefully check the quality and accuracy of the engraving and repeat the engraving or make corrections if needed.
  6. Cleaning and Maintenance: After finishing the engraving, clean the tool and table in time to remove chips and debris. Regular maintenance of the pneumatic engraving machine, such as replacing the tool, checking the air source and circuit, to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

Caveat

  1. Safe operation: During operation, do not touch the rotating engraving tool or move the work table. Do not put fingers or other objects into the area where the tool is located. When cleaning the work area, the power switch must be turned off first. Do not disassemble the equipment or perform illegal operations without authorization.
  2. Daily Maintenance: Regularly clean dust and debris from the surface of the machine and the working area. Lubricate regularly to keep the machine operating smoothly. Regularly check power cords, air lines and connections to ensure no damage. Regularly check tools and clamps to ensure no looseness.
  3. Regular maintenance: Replace worn parts in time according to the maintenance manual provided by the equipment manufacturer. Regularly check the air supply system, such as pressure regulator, filter, etc.

Reach a verdict

By mastering the above operating steps and precautions of pneumatic engraving tools, beginners can gradually familiarize themselves with the use of pneumatic engraving machine tools, and constantly improve their engraving skills in practice. At the same time, pay attention to the maintenance of pneumatic engraving tools and maintenance, can extend its service life, to ensure the smooth progress of engraving work.
